Here at Paardekooper, we focus on reusable and recyclable packaging. We expanded our range and strengthened strategic partnerships in 2024. We saw that our reusable packaging solutions typically had a return rate of around 95%, while our recycling solutions had a return rate of around 90%. This applies in closed venues or when using a deposit system, and in both B2B and B2C environments. This helps to financially substantiate the benefit of circular packaging to customers and consumers.

An example of a circular product is the Floraloop, a system in which flower buckets are placed in a pool and washed for reuse. You can read more about this in ‘flower transport solutions’.

Paardekooper is committed to reducing our carbon footprint. We expanded our scope 1 and 2 insights in 2024 by including our scope 3 impact. Calculating our total scope 3 emissions is an important step in our sustainability journey. With these insights, we can take targeted actions to reduce our emissions and improve our environmental performance. By setting Science Based Targets we can be sure that we are making our contribution to limiting climate change.

The LCA Centre: our indispensable link with science.
The LCA Centre was established as an independent part of the Royal Paardekooper Group at the beginning of this century. It offers LCA studies and packaging advice to various organisations to improve packaging, comply with future legislation and gain insight into environmental impact. The LCA Centre’s experts use technical material knowledge and forensic tools to help organisations make their packaging more sustainable.

Sustainable product range

This year we have once again committed ourselves to further improving the sustainability of our range. For example, we introduced a flower and plant sleeve within the Horti division that offers an increased percentage of recycled material and even a reusable tulip sleeve. In addition, our employees are fully committed to developing reusable packaging for other applications.
