Training and discussion on plastic reuse with Circular Plastics Alliance
Last year we welcomed the Circular Plastics Alliance to our office. We provided space for a group discussion and training by the Circular Plastics Alliance, and shared our own stories about how we help customers make more sustainable choices and about our solutions for reusable packaging. It was interesting to talk to different companies from all kinds of different sectors about the use of plastics and their reuse.

MVO Nederland
The network organisation MVO Nederland supports and connects organisations working in the field of sustainability. This has created a network of partners that innovate and implement together in order to achieve the new economy. Sustainable Packaging:
Insights for Florists and Green Professionals
At the ‘Sustainable entrepreneurship into the future’ event of Plantion, VBW, Smithers-Oasis and Wholesale Centre Plantion in October, employees Merel de Vries, Sustainability Advisor, and Hans de Jong, Product Manager, shared our insights of sustainable packaging developments. The target group of the event were florists and other green professionals, which led to an interesting dialogue about how to involve the customer in sustainability. Using our assortment classification, we provided visitors with tools for making their range more sustainable. We provided practical examples of how entrepreneurs can contribute to improve the recyclability of the materials used.

HSPI, Horti Sustainable Packaging Initiative
By working together intensively, we want to accelerate the transition to more environmentally-friendly packaging. As a result, we want to make an active contribution to a sustainable future for the floriculture sector and to a healthy living environment. The initiative focuses on three themes: chain transparency and certification, circularity in materials and packaging, and life cycle assessments. In 2024, we continued to work on the goals set in 2023. Paardekooper takes part in the working groups.

With increasing complexity, education becomes increasingly important. Paardekooper contributes to the Packaging Chair of the University of Twente, established by the NVC, more specifically through the MSc study ‘Packaging Design & Management’. As a result, Paardekooper contributes to the knowledge of the packaging technologists of the future.
