RESPECT sustainability strategy
Susan van Kruijsbergen, Group Manager Sustainability
‘RESPECT has really become a concept within Paardekooper for how we work on sustainability.’
Our RESPECT sustainability strategy consists of 7 pillars. The pillars provide a direction for everything we do in terms of sustainability and for our most important goal: making our range more sustainable.
People
In addition to making products more sustainable, we also work on good and fair working conditions throughout the entire supply chain. This means we work on all aspects of sustainability.
Science
Every sustainability demand is different. Being able to measure is therefore an important condition for us. The total environmental impact leads us in the choices we make. We analyse materials for composition and environmental impact in The LCA Centre. We base our choices on facts and not gut feeling or perception.
Environment
Our assortment classification is a tool that we use to measure how we make our range more sustainable. All our products are divided into five categories, from ‘phasing out’ (packaging that will no longer be permitted under legislation and regulations in the long term) to development and ultimately offering packaging in a circular system.
Transparancy
We communicate honestly about the impact of products, and only make claims about a lower environmental impact if we can substantiate the claims with data.
Collaboration
Change is not something you do alone; the entire supply chain needs to work together to become more sustainable. Paardekooper has full insight into the complete supply chain, from raw material to the eventual recycling by the consumer. By entering into discussions with all parties, we take concrete steps towards sustainability throughout every link of the supply chain.
Education
We closely monitor all relevant laws and regulations so we can develop alternatives and advise clients on the impact of the laws and regulations and offer more sustainable alternatives.
Rethink
We stimulate the transition from a linear to a circular economy. We follow the 3R approach: minimise the use of raw materials (Reduce), maximise the reuse of products and components (Reuse) and recycle raw materials to the highest possible quality (Recycle).

RESPECT,
our course towards a more sustainable world
