It's never too early to make children
more aware about waste.

When Niels was asked to give a reading for the Dutch Children's Book Week, he was happy to oblige. The theme for the 2022 Children's Book Week was Giga Green! I hope to have shared something important with this young generation, but as ‘grown-ups’ we still have an awful lot to do. As Programme Manager, I deal with this on a daily basis. I do things like optimising systems and processes to show at a glance the sustainable, circular solutions at our disposal. That should make it easier for us and our customers to make the right sustainability choices.’

‘What struck me was how surprised and even indignant the children were to discover that packaging ends up in the natural environment ‘Maybe the grown-ups should go back to school?’

When you work for a company that has a genuine commitment to the environment, you obviously have a story to tell. ‘The whole experience was great fun. As well as reading the children a story, I tried to explain what packaging is and what we (can) do to reduce the waste mountain. What struck me was how surprised and even indignant the children were to discover that packaging ends up in the natural environment. ‘Maybe the grown-ups should go back to school?’
